What if I told you one of the rarest Pokémon in Kanto isn't hiding from you because it's shy, and the real reason is written in its ears.

Clefable is the one almost nobody has seen in the wild. 

The entries say it flees the moment it senses people coming, that it stays way up in the quiet mountains, and that it guards those mountains like they matter more than anything. For 30 years the fandom has read that one way. 

That it's timid, standoffish, and a rare spawn with an ATTITUDE.

But then there's the entry about its hearing. 

Clefable can hear a pin drop from more than a thousand yards away. 

Half A MILE, it can hear a PIN drop! 

Think about what the world sounds like to something built like that. 

Every conversation in a town, at once. Every engine, every argument two streets over, every door, every dog. All of it, all the time, with nothing turned down. And then the Pokédex tells you where it makes its home, and suddenly the mountain isn't an attitude. The mountain is the only place quiet enough to think.

So it goes up there, and it guards the quiet, and when it hears people coming, it leaves before they arrive, and the people go home and say Clefable doesn't like anybody.

You know a Clefable. 

Heck, maybe you're one yourself. 

The friend who slips out of the party at nine and gets called anti-social. The one who winces at the loud restaurant and gets told to relax. And it's hard to explain to people that you weren't avoiding them. You could hear every single one of them at once, the words and the tone and every other sound, and there was nowhere in that room to turn it down.

It didn't leave because it hated people. It left because it could hear all of them.
