Things to know before you start.
Simple tips for your first 10 hours of Pokopia. No spoilers.
- 01
Glide is your fastest way around the island
Once Dragonite teaches Glide, climb to any high point and glide off the peak. It covers more ground than any other skill and turns cross-biome trips into a few seconds.
- 02
Watch your PP, and eat to refill it
PP powers every harvest, build and skill use, and eating a cooked dish restores it. Chef Dente's recipes also power up the matching move. Keep a few dishes cooked so you don't run out halfway through a project.
- 03
Cook the matching dish to power up a move
Salad upgrades Leafage, Soup upgrades Water Gun, Bread upgrades Cut, and Hamburger Steak upgrades Rock Smash (whose meter Rollout also uses). In the base game, those are the only four moves with a food upgrade. The Bubbly Basin expansion adds smoothies, which power up Surf.
- 04
Build one strong habitat per biome and the rest cascade
Tending a habitat doesn't just attract its starter species; as those Pokémon grow comfy, rarer evolved forms move in too. Keep Comfy Levels high and the dex fills itself.
- 05
Detour to Palette Town early
Reached via the Cycling Road out of the Withered Wasteland, it's worth an early trip: its three islands hold the Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres kits and the whole Eevee line, and none of it is gated behind the main story.
- 06
Magnet Rise is the endgame build cheat
This post-game Magnemite skill lets you hover and place or absorb blocks freely in 3D, which makes large builds dramatically faster. Save your big megabuild until you have it.
- 07
Save the legendaries for the post-game
The Legendary Beasts and Mewtwo each live on a Dream Island reached through Drifloon (a matching Doll nudges which island you get, but never guarantees it), while Ho-Oh and Lugia need a Clear Bell or Tidal Bell crafted after you befriend each trio. They're a long-haul goal, not an early grab.
- 08
Some spawns roll fresh each day
Sleep to advance to the next in-game day, then recheck your habitats. Dream Islands refresh once per day, so the legendaries that live on them are worth a daily visit.
