When is Raid Hour in Pokémon GO?
Every Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 PM local time. Nearly every Gym hosts the current Tier 5 Legendary raid boss for the hour, providing dense raid opportunities. Niantic occasionally adds Mega Raid Hour rotations on different days as event extras.
How does Mega Evolution work?
Mega Evolution uses Mega Energy, earned by completing Mega Raids of that species or via designated research and walking distance. Once Mega-Evolved, the Pokémon stays Mega for 8 hours and provides a typed catch and XP bonus to all trainers in the raid lobby.
What are Mega Levels?
Standard, High, Max, and Super Max. Each level reduces Mega Energy cost and unlocks bonuses. Super Max was added February 20, 2026 and currently applies only to Victreebel, Dragonite, and Malamar (the GO Tour: Kalos Super Mega Raid headliners). Super Max requires 5,000 Mega Energy from Max.
What is a Super Mega Raid?
A new raid tier introduced alongside Pokémon Legends: Z-A megas. The 26 new Megas from Legends Z-A have been releasing through Super Mega Raid windows since GO Tour: Kalos (February 2026). Mega Falinks Super Mega Raid Day is May 23, 2026.
How many Mega Evolution forms are in Pokémon GO?
As of May 2026, 49 Mega Evolution forms are in the game (counting Charizard X / Y separately). Starting May 29, 2026, Pokémon with multiple Mega forms (Charizard X/Y, Mewtwo X/Y) track Mega Energy separately per form.
