6 things that make a Pokémon card valuable
- Rarity symbol Bottom of the card: a circle is common, a diamond uncommon, a star (or special mark) rare or better.
- Holo, full-art, ex / V / VMAX Shiny holographic, textured full-art, and ex / V style cards almost always sell for more than plain versions.
- Age and edition First Edition, Shadowless, and 1999 to 2003 WOTC era cards carry the most vintage value.
- Condition Sharp corners, clean edges, no whitening or scratches. Condition can swing a card price several times over.
- Grading A high PSA, CGC, or BGS grade on a scarce card multiplies value. Bulk cards are not worth grading.
- Set and chase status Cards from the newest sets and famous chase cards (think Charizard) hold a premium while demand is hot.
