0:00What if I told you one of the loneliest places a Pokémon can live is the exact place this one chose to call home?

0:03This is Dewgong, the white seal Pokémon.

0:05It lives somewhere almost nothing else can.

0:08Icebergs, adrift in the coldest oceans on earth, water so frigid it would kill most other Pokémon in minutes.

0:11Dewgong looked at the harshest, emptiest place in the sea and decided that was where it would live.

0:13And it doesn't just survive out there..

0:16It comes alive and absolutely THRIVES!

0:19The Pokédex says the colder it gets, the friskier Dewgong becomes.

0:21The temperature that would shut almost anything else down is the temperature that wakes it up.

0:24It stores thermal energy inside its own body, makes its own heat from the inside, so the cold that surrounds it never actually reaches the part that matters.

0:26It learned to carry its warmth with it, because out there, nobody was going to provide it.

0:29But here's some Pokémon lore that will make you think...

0:32There's an old Pokédex story about a sailor, long ago, who saw a Dewgong sleeping on a glacier.

0:34Completely alone, resting on bitter ice in the middle of nowhere.

0:37And from a distance, he didn't see a creature surviving something brutal.

0:40He thought he was looking at a mermaid.

0:42Some of you have lived on that iceberg.

0:45You ended up somewhere cold.

0:48A situation, a season, a stretch of your life that other people couldn't have lasted a week in, that they warned you about, that they were glad wasn't theirs.

0:50And you didn't get to leave.

0:53So you did the only thing you could.

0:56You learned to make your own warmth.

0:58You got stronger in the cold instead of softer.

1:01You built a whole life on the ice nobody else would set foot on.

1:04And the strangest part is what other people see.

1:06They look at you out there, resting, surviving, carrying your own heat, and they think it looks graceful.

1:09They call you strong, serene, beautiful.

1:11They see a mermaid.

1:14They have no idea it was just you, keeping yourself warm in a place that should have frozen you solid.

1:17What looked like grace was you surviving, and YOU did it.

1:19You made warmth where there wasn't any.
