Immune Ice-types can’t be frozen (since Gen VII). Magma Armor prevents it.
Volatile statuses
Temporary. They clear when the Pokémon switches out or the battle ends.
FAQ
- What are the status conditions in Pokémon?
- The five non-volatile statuses are Burn, Poison, Paralysis, Sleep, and Freeze. Only one can affect a Pokémon at a time, and it persists after battle. Volatile statuses like Confusion and Flinch are temporary and only last during battle.
- How do you cure a status condition?
- Use the matching Berry (Rawst for burn, Pecha for poison, Cheri for paralysis, Chesto for sleep, Aspear for freeze), an item like Full Heal, or heal at a Pokémon Center. The ability Natural Cure clears status on switch out.
- Which types are immune to status?
- Fire can’t be burned, Electric can’t be paralyzed, Ice can’t be frozen, and Poison/Steel can’t be poisoned. Grass-types are immune to Leech Seed and powder moves.
- What is the difference between poisoned and badly poisoned?
- Regular poison deals a flat 1/8 max HP per turn. Badly poisoned (Toxic) ramps up each turn (1/16, then 2/16, then 3/16), making it far more dangerous over a long fight.
