How often does it update?
Once per day at 9 AM Eastern, the same moment the home page rolls over. The widget fetches fresh JSON every page load, so visitors always see today's drop.
Is it free?
Yes. For personal blogs, fan sites, Discord-attached pages, classroom projects, anything community-flavored. If you want to embed it in a commercial product, drop us a line first.
Does it work without JavaScript?
No, the widget needs JS to fetch today's Pokémon. If JS is disabled the slot stays empty. If you need a server-rendered fallback, hotlink the JSON at /api/potd.json and render it yourself.
Will it slow my site down?
The script is under 3 KB gzipped, the JSON payload is under 1 KB, and styles are scoped to .dp-frame so it won't fight your CSS. Total weight: about the same as one decent-sized icon.
Can I style it?
Wrap it in a parent and override .dp-frame rules. The themes themselves are baked in, but width, margins, fonts, and the CTA color are all overridable.
