0:00What if I told you the little digital Pokémon made of computer code might be more alive than the people who built it ever planned for?
0:03This is Porygon.
0:06The first Pokémon ever made by people, on purpose, out of programming.
0:09It wasn't born, but, rather it was built, for a job.
0:12The old Pokédex entries are actually kind of cold about it.
0:16They say it can only do what it's programmed to do.
0:19Basic motions.
0:22Just the functions someone gave it; a tool that happened to be shaped like a creature.
0:25But there's a newer entry, written by a researcher who actually spent time with one.
0:28And they sound shaken.
0:31They wrote that Porygon has no heartbeat and doesn't breathe, and somehow it's alive anyway, and they admitted they cannot explain it.
0:34There's something in there the code never accounted for.
0:37Something nobody programmed.
0:40Some of you have felt like Porygon.
0:43You were the useful one, capable one...
0:47The one who gets things DONE!
0:50Somewhere early, you picked up that you were valued for what you could do, the output, the help, the function, so that's what you led with.
0:53And after long enough, you started to quietly wonder if that's all you actually are.
0:56If you stopped being useful, would there be anything left...
0:59There would.
1:02There's a whole part of you that has nothing to do with what you produce.
1:05It was there before you ever made yourself helpful to anyone.
1:08The people who only saw your function never saw it, but that doesn't mean it isn't the realest thing about you.
1:11You don't have to keep earning your spot by being useful.
1:14You were already alive in there.
1:18That part was never in the job description.
1:21Have you ever worried you're only worth what you can do for people?
1:24Let's discuss in the comments and make sure to give us a follow and subscribe so you NEVER miss one of our daily videos!

Special firepower at 85.
Porygon's base stat total is 395. The shape of a stat spread tells you everything about a Pokémon's role. Tanks lean defense, sweepers lean speed and attack.
