Pidgey.

0:00Pidgey is the Pokémon that carried you when you had nothing, and you left it the second you found something better.

0:03Think about how you actually used it.

0:06At the very start of the game, your team is empty and everything can pretty much beat you.

0:10Pidgey is the one that gets you through it.

0:13It takes the early hits.

0:16It wins the fights you could not win yet.

0:19It walks you to the first town, the first badge, the first time you felt like you might actually be good at this.

0:23You leaned on it hard, because back then it was all you had.

0:26And then you caught something stronger.

0:29And Pidgey went in the box and you probably never took it out again besides maybe to evolve it just to complete the game's pokedex.

0:32But here's part of its official lore that will make you think twice.

0:35Pidgey has a perfect sense of direction.

0:39No matter how far it is taken, it can always find its way back home.

0:42So it is not the one who got lost.

0:45You are.

0:48It is still sitting in that box knowing exactly where you are.

0:51It just never got the chance to come back, because you were the one who walked away.

0:55Some of you have a Pidgey.

0:58The person who was there before anyone else.

1:01Who believed in you when you were nobody, who took the hits so you could get to the next town.

1:04And the day your life finally leveled up, you put them away.

1:08Not to be cruel.

1:11You just did not need them the same way anymore, and you told yourself they understood.

1:14They did understand.

1:17That is what makes it hurt.

1:20The people who carry you at your weakest almost never ask for anything back.

1:24But being needed once and set down later is its own kind of lonely, and they felt every day of it while you were busy becoming who you are now.

1:27And who knows, maybe your Pidgey is still out there, still knowing the way back to you.
