Whismur.
Normally speaks in a barely audible whisper, but startles easily into deafening cries. Once it calms down, it quietly returns to its gentle nature.

0:00What if I told you Whismur scares itself.
0:02Not with a monster or anything like that, but, with the sound of its own crying!
0:04This is Whismur, and normally it's the quietest thing around.
0:06That's its entire deal, it whispers.
0:09Its cries are so soft you can barely pick them up.
0:11But if something startles it, Whismur cries out.
0:13And that cry is over a hundred decibels.
0:15That's jet engine territory, coming out of this tiny little thing.
0:17And here's where it might just become one of the saddest entries in the whole Pokédex.
0:19Because the second Whismur hears its own cry, it gets startled by it.
0:21By itself.
0:24It scares itself with the noise it just made.
0:26So it cries harder.
0:28Which scares it more.
0:30So it cries harder than that.
0:32And it just spirals, louder and louder, feeding itself, and it can't get out of it.
0:34And it gets worse!
0:36Whismur breathes through its ear canals.
0:39So it doesn't even have to stop for air.
0:41It can just keep going.
0:43There's no natural break in it.
0:45The thing's got no off switch.
0:47So it doesn't stop when it feels better.
0:49It stops when it's completely wiped out.
0:51Whismur cries until it's exhausted, and then it falls asleep.
0:54That's the ending.
0:56It doesn't calm down.
0:58It runs out.
1:00But there's one thing that stops it, and the Pokédex says it flat out.
1:02Whismur will stop crying if its ear covers are shut.
1:04That's the whole fix.
1:06Nothing got braver or got more mature.
1:09Nothing changed about what scared it in the first place.
1:11It just stopped having to hear itself.
1:13The second it can't hear its own alarm, the spiral ends.
1:15Because the thing terrifying Whismur was never really the thing that startled it.
1:17It was the sound of its own panic.
1:19Some of you know that spiral.
1:21The one where you're not even scared of the thing anymore, you're scared of how loud you're reacting to it.
1:24So be honest.
1:26What's the thing about yourself you keep trying to turn down?
1:28Say it in the comments.
An absolute unit of HP at 64.
Whismur's base stat total is 240. The shape of a stat spread tells you everything about a Pokémon's role. Tanks lean defense, sweepers lean speed and attack.
