0:00What if I told you the games flat out admit they don't know whether Mega Starmie wants to talk to humanity, or replace it.
0:02This is Starmie.
0:05And it's been quietly the creepiest Pokémon in the game since 1996, and almost nobody clocks it.
0:07Start with what it's always done.
0:09Starmie's core, that red jewel in the middle of it, glows in seven colors.
0:12And when it does that, it's transmitting.
0:14Its own Pokédex says Starmie sends mysterious radio signals up into the night sky, and that people believe it's communicating when that core lights up.
0:16Communicating with what?
0:18It never says.
0:21The games have never once told us.
0:23And it goes further than that.
0:25Because the core doesn't just transmit.
0:28It's described as receiving, too.
0:30So this thing isn't shouting into the void.
0:32It's having a conversation.
0:35Something out there has been answering it.
0:37For thirty years.
0:39And it gets better.
0:42Starmie's body is so strange, so geometric, so unlike anything else alive, that in its own world the locals came up with a rumor about it.
0:44They think Starmie is an invader from outer space.
0:46And that's not a fan theory, that's literally what it says in the Pokédex.
0:48The people who live around this thing look at it and assume it isn't from here.
0:51And now, the Mega Evolution.
0:53When Starmie Mega Evolves, something changes that should genuinely bother you.
0:55Its movements become humanlike.
0:58It starts moving the way we move.
1:00And the official description of Mega Starmie says its intentions are unclear.
1:02It says nobody knows whether it's trying to communicate with humanity, or supplant it.
1:05Replace us.
1:07The game won't tell you which one it is.
1:09It just says no one knows!
1:12So lets put the whole thing together.
1:14It's been sending signals into space for decades.
1:16Something's been answering.
1:18And now it's learning how to move like us!
1:21So what's your read.
1:23Is Mega Starmie trying to talk to us?
1:25Or is it studying us?
1:28Drop your theory, because the games have never answered this one.
