0:00What if I told you there's a Pokémon so devoted to protecting you that most of the time, you'd never even know it saved you.
0:03This is Gallade.
0:05And it comes from the most loving family in all of Pokémon, the same line as Gardevoir, the one that feels every emotion you feel and would tear open a black hole before it let anything reach you.
0:08Same little Ralts, same Kirlia, same heart.
0:11But only a male Kirlia can take this path, and it takes something rare, a Dawn Stone, to unlock it.
0:14And where Gardevoir became the embrace, Gallade became a knight!
0:16The Pokédex calls it a master of courtesy and swordsmanship.
0:19And the order of those words matters.
0:22Courtesy comes first.
0:25Gallade is calm, and polite, and principled, the kind of Pokémon that bows before a match.
0:27It doesn't go looking for fights, and nothing about it is aggressive.
0:30Right up until somebody it loves is in danger.
0:33Because here's what its entries actually say.
0:35When Gallade is protecting someone, its elbows extend into swords, and this gentle, courteous thing fights savagely.
0:38That's the games' exact word, savagely!
0:41It doesn't even carry a weapon.
0:44When someone it loves is threatened, its OWN body becomes the sword!
0:46And like everyone in its family, it can sense what others are feeling.
0:49Gallade just points that gift outward.
0:52It reads what a threat is thinking before the threat ever moves, and its attacks burst out first, fast and fierce.
0:55Which means most of the time, the person standing behind Gallade never even sees the danger.
0:57It's over before it arrives, that's its whole style.
1:00Gardevoir feels everything with you while Gallade makes sure there's less for you to feel.
1:03And some of us were protected like that.
1:05By somebody who wasn't loud about loving you.
1:08Who maybe never really said it at all.
1:11They just showed up, and stood between you and things, and took care of problems you didn't find out about until years later, if you ever found out at all.
1:14The love wasn't in what they said.
1:16It was in everything that never reached you.
1:19If somebody came to mind just now, this one's about them!
1:22So share in the comments about the one who protected you like a Gallade.
1:25And honestly, you should name them too!
1:27They've earned it just as much, don't you think?
Attack 125, Sp. Attack 65. Pick your poison.
Gallade's base stat total is 518. The shape of a stat spread tells you everything about a Pokémon's role. Tanks lean defense, sweepers lean speed and attack.
