0:00What if I told you there's a question this franchise has refused to answer for almost thirty years.
0:03And the people who made the game have admitted they don't know the answer either.
0:05This is Diglett.
0:08You've known it your whole life.
0:10It's one of the most recognizable Pokémon ever drawn, a little brown head, a pink nose, some dirt.
0:13And that's the entire thing.
0:15Because in almost thirty years, across every game, every episode of the anime, every movie, nobody has ever been shown what's under a Diglett.
0:18Not once.
0:20Here's what's actually on the record.
0:23Its official height is eight inches.
0:25Eight.
0:28And fans have never accepted that number, because everybody's pretty sure that's just the part sticking out of the ground.
0:30The games also say it lives about a yard underground and feeds on plant roots down there.
0:33And here's the detail that makes the mystery airtight: Diglett's skin is so thin that direct sunlight overheats it fast.
0:35It gets weak if it surfaces too long.
0:38So it physically cannot come all the way out...
0:40The mystery literally protects itself.
0:43And the hints over the years have only made it worse.
0:45In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, a Diglett casually mentions its feet, one line, no picture, and fans have been fighting about that single sentence for twenty years.
0:48Then in an official interview, they asked the actual makers of Pokémon what's under there.
0:50Junichi Masuda, the man behind these games for decades, said he's curious himself.
0:53And the designer sitting next to him guessed, and this is a real quote, maybe it's like a hand or something.
0:55A hand.
0:57The people who made Diglett are guessing right along with the rest of us.
1:00And when a glitch in Scarlet and Violet finally showed what's under the ground, it was just a smooth little capsule, and the entire fandom looked at it and said no.
1:03Not accepting that.
1:05The real answer is still out there.
1:08And as we recently learned about Onix, those tunnels Diglett live in?
1:10A lot of them were dug by Onix first!
1:13It's all connected down there in the world of Pokémon!
1:15Honestly, in a franchise that eventually explains everything, Diglett is the one secret they've actually kept.
1:18Almost thirty years, over a thousand Pokémon, and this is still the best unanswered question they've got.
1:20So it comes down to the comments.
1:23What's under Diglett?
1:25Drop your theory, no matter how unhinged.
1:28And pick your camp: team little worm, team secret legs, or team it just goes down forever.
Speed 95, HP 10. Pick your poison.
Diglett's base stat total is 265. The shape of a stat spread tells you everything about a Pokémon's role. Tanks lean defense, sweepers lean speed and attack.
