0:00What if I told you there's a Pokémon that has never once chosen how it feels.
0:04The sky decides for it.
0:07And the reason it exists at all is a story almost nobody remembers.
0:11This is Castform.
0:14Its cells are built like water molecules, so the weather reaches all the way inside it.
0:18On sunny days it turns bright and warm, and when it rains, it gets heavier and dimmer.
0:22While when the cold comes in, it goes pale and closes up.
0:25And the games spell out that it isn't doing any of this on purpose.
0:29The weather changes, so it changes.
0:32Castform has no say in the matter.
0:36There's a very simple reason its body works like this, it's for protection.
0:40Castform is tiny and fragile.
0:43It can't stop a storm, so instead it becomes something that can live inside one.
0:47Castform survives the weather by turning into it.
0:50But here's the part people forget.
0:54Castform didn't come from the wild, it came from a lab like Porygon.
0:58Scientists at the Weather Institute in Hoenn made it, on purpose, because they wanted a tool that could predict the weather, something that would react to the sky before the sky did anything.
1:01And they got one, just it also turned out to be a small living thing with feelings.
1:05So now everything it was built to measure, Castform also has to feel.
1:08Maybe you know somebody built like that.
1:12Maybe it's you, fine when it's sunny, low when it's gray, and tired of apologizing for it.
1:16So here's the check-in.
1:19Which form are you today?
1:23One word in the comments is enough.
1:26And feel free to come back tomorrow and answer again if it changed.
A flat 70 across the board.
Castform's base stat total is 420. The shape of a stat spread tells you everything about a Pokémon's role. Tanks lean defense, sweepers lean speed and attack.
