It washes its face regularly to keep the coin on its forehead spotless. It doesn’t get along with Galarian Meowth.

0:00What if I told you the Pokémon obsessed with money is the only one in the world with no idea what money is, and that you used to be exactly like it.
0:06By every measure, Meowth should be the richest Pokémon alive.
0:11It wears a gold coin on its forehead, a koban, an old Japanese gold piece, because its whole design is the lucky cat that waves at you from shop counters.
0:17Its signature move, Pay Day, produces real coins out of thin air in the middle of battle.
0:23And its Pokédex entries describe a tiny nightly crime spree, it wanders the streets on a nightly basis looking for dropped loose change, it especially adores coins, and it picks them up and secretly hoards them.
0:28A cat that makes money, wears money, and hunts money in the dark.
0:34Except one entry gives the entire game away.
0:39It says, "for SOME reason", this Pokémon loves shiny coins that glitter with light.
0:45"For some reason." The people who wrote the encyclopedia of that whole world are admitting they don't know why.
0:51And the answer is that it was never about money.
0:56Meowth has NOTHING to buy, no bills, no clue that the coin on its head is worth anything at all.
1:02It keeps coins for exactly ONE reason....
1:08Because they SHINE.
1:13A bottle cap would do the job just as well, and canonically, anything round and glittering does.
1:19The most famous hoarder in Kanto belongs to somebody who thinks the shine is the treasure.
1:24And you used to keep a stash like that too, didn't you?
Speed 90, Defense 35. Pick your poison.
Meowth's base stat total is 290. The shape of a stat spread tells you everything about a Pokémon's role. Tanks lean defense, sweepers lean speed and attack.
