Wonder Pick; worth your stamina?
Pokémon TCG Pocket Wonder Pick guide; what it is, how stamina works, and a free EV calculator that tells you whether the active pool is worth your hourglasses. Verified 2026-05-18.
How Wonder Pick actually works.
- Another player opens a pack. Their 5 cards become a Wonder Pick pool.
- You see the 5 cards face-up for a few seconds.
- The cards shuffle face-down. You pick one.
- The card you pick is added to your collection.
The free daily Wonder Pick is automatic; always take it. Beyond that, every additional pick costs Wonder Hourglasses based on pool quality. The calculator below tells you when it's worth spending.

- Pool contains a card with ≥1,500 Pack Point value.
Skip these

- Cost is 4+ hourglasses for a single 3-Rare you don't need.
- Pool contains 5 cards you already own duplicates of.
- You're under 4 daily Wonder Hourglasses; save them for tomorrow's good pool.
Common questions.
What is Wonder Pick in TCG Pocket?
Wonder Pick is a daily mini-draw mechanic. When another player opens a 5-card pack, that pack becomes a Wonder Pick pool. You see the 5 cards face-up briefly, then they shuffle face-down, and you "pick" one card for a stamina cost. The card you pick goes into your collection.
Is Wonder Pick free?
The first Wonder Pick of the day is free. Every additional one costs Wonder Hourglasses (separate from Pack Hourglasses). typically 1-4 hourglasses depending on pool quality.
When is Wonder Pick worth doing?
Always do the free daily pick. After that, only spend hourglasses if the pool contains a card you specifically need; an EX you're missing for a deck, a Crown / Immersive chase, or a card priced at high Pack Points. Picking 5 randomly from a pool of 5 has a 20% chance of any specific card.
How does the EV calculator below work?
Tell the calculator (1) how many cards in the pool you actually want, (2) what each one is worth to you (estimated Pack Point cost saved), and (3) the stamina cost. We return the expected value per stamina spent. Above 1.0 = good pick. Below 0.5 = skip.
Do Wonder Picks count toward Pack Points?
No. Wonder Pick draws do not award Pack Points. Only opening normal packs does. This means Pack-Point grinders should pick the cheapest available Wonder Pick to mark the daily quest, then move on.
