How many packs to finish a set.

Uses every card's real chance per pack. Pack Points, trades and Wonder Picks are left out, so this is the packs-only answer.

Common questions.

What are the TCG Pocket pack odds?

Cards 1 to 3 are always ◆ commons. In B series packs, card 4 is 90% ◆◆, 5% ◆◆◆ and 1.667% ◆◆◆◆, and card 5 is 60% ◆◆, 20% ◆◆◆ and 6.667% ◆◆◆◆, with star and crown cards in the rest. Each set page lists the chance of every single card.

Why are some sets different?

Shining Revelry (A2b) through Secluded Springs (A4a) put shiny cards inside cards 4 and 5, which takes ◆◆ down to 89% and 56%. The B series moved shinies into a sixth bonus card that comes with 5.238% of packs, so cards 4 and 5 went back to 90% and 60%. Deluxe packs hold four cards, and card 4 is always ◆◆◆◆ or better.

How rare is a rare pack (god pack)?

A rare pack replaces 0.05% of packs, 1 in 2,000, in every set. Every card in it is a star or crown card. B series rare packs hold no shinies.

Is there a pity system?

No. Every pack is drawn at the same rates no matter what came before, so a long drought is bad luck, not a timer. Team Rocket's Ambition is the one exception the game lists: some of its packs guarantee a ◆◆◆◆ or better fifth card, under conditions the game does not publish.

How many packs does it take to finish a set?

Far more than the card count suggests, because the last few cards are the crowns. Pick a set in the calculator on this page to see the packs for an even chance and a 90% chance of owning every card, using each card's real odds.
